I’m thrilled to be part of Renee’s fourth tour and I have a few things in store for you today. I’ll be starting with a review of the latest episode – Shadow Stalker: Forbidden Love. A little later I have a character interview and guest post from Renee.
The storms on the Dark Isle can be deadly. Kado and Auren find shelter to wait it out in relative safety, but little do they know another storm is about to descend upon them.
Auren meets, Etan, a young shadow stalker in her uncle’s village, and they experience an immediate and deep connection. As far as she is concerned, she’s old enough to pursue a relationship with whoever she wants, but the shadow stalkers live by different rules. Auren learns that her love for Etan is forbidden, and pursuing it can lead to dire consequences.
This was an emotional episode, one which hooked me so deeply I felt part of the story itself. I was anxious to discover Auren’s fate since we were left on a cliff hanger and in the middle of a storm no less. Like any series, where the characters are familiar, I couldn’t wait to spend time with them again. The opening chapter was action packed and fraught with tension.
The moment Auren met Etan I knew their relationship would be significant. The obstacles in their way were heartbreaking. Auren has already been through so much, so it felt particularly unfair she was unable to explore this new connection.
Her relationship with Kado is already strained, and the conflicts were dealt with beautifully. I was pulled in a dozen different directions and put through an emotional ringer! I like her more with every episode and loved that she stood up for herself.
I also really enjoyed learning more about the shadow stalkers and their customs. As the story unfolds it drags you deeper and deeper. The ending was explosive, as always, and I cannot wait to find out where the journey takes me next.
Renee Scattergood lives in Australia with her husband, Nathan, and daughter, Taiya. She was inspired to become a story-teller by George Lucas, but didn’t start considering writing down her stories until she reached her late twenties. Now she enjoys writing high fantasy, and has recently began publishing her first series, Shadow Stalker. Aside from writing, she loves reading (Fantasy, of course), watching movies with her family, and doing crafts and science experiments with her daughter.
